Main Topic:

Resilient Structures

Year 2023 is marked with the 60th anniversary of the Skopje Earthquake, a chronological landmark, evolutional turning point of the Macedonian, as well as European structural engineering. The Symposium topics will reflect on the past 6 decades of gained and applied knowledge in the field of seismic design and its upcoming challenges. In addition, the 2023 MASE Symposium will put a spotlight on global challenges related to climate changes and its effects on demands in structural design, encompassing concepts of robustness, adaptability, sustainability, durability, maintainability and reliability of structures. In this context, the theme of the 20th MASE Symposium is Resilient Structures.

At the opening ceremony, 74th anniversary from the foundation of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, UKIM in Skopje will be marked.

The main topic will be covered by technical presentations made by distinguished invited speakers. The symposium will enable a specifically dedicated exhibition area for product and technology demonstrations of companies relevant to the field. Paper submissions covering the main theme will be highly appreciated, however the symposium will cover the following topics in addition:

  • Theoretical and experimental analysis of structures
  • Contemporary methods for structural design and construction
  • Structural health monitoring, performance and damage assessment
  • Maintenance, repair and strengthening of structures
  • Reliability and durability of structures
  • Information and BIM technologies in structural engineering
  • Modern materials and technologies for sustainable development
  • Smart buildings and infrastructure
  • Resilient cities
